BAY OF QUIBERON
Flat Spots
Les Sables Blancs (Commune de Plouharnel)
Pas de houle, grand espace de navigation
Good with North-East / East / South-East winds.
Advice for beginners: booties are compulsory. It's essential to know the tide times at these spots. Choose the times close to low tide, as you'll have more space on the beach and you'll be able to surf in shallow water (can stand everywhere).
North and north-easterly winds are onshore here and can therefore be gusty and unstable, so be careful not to tack too far out to sea or you risk finding yourself with no wind at all.
Sharp shells that can easily tear a kite or scratch a board.
Losing your board: knowing how to recover your board whilst being towed is highly recommended if you are kiting at high tide, as it's deep and your board could drift into hard-to-reach areas far from its starting point. In these spots, if you've activated the quick release a kite can float and end up much lower down, either in the embankment and rocks near the Isthme de Penthièvre or in the seagrass beds and the small wooden posts.
Oyster park off the coast. Pebbles, rocks and sharp shells around the edges. At high tide the sea withdraws very quickly, so watch out for sandbanks and large stones just above the water level at the Penthièvre municipal campsite and at l'Isthme. There is no beach at l'Isthme at high tide.
Choose the Sables Blancs spot for sailing at high tide.

SAINT COLOMBAN (Commune de Carnac)
Good with a westerly wind.
Good spot to fall back to when the swell is too big on the ocean side.
Advice for beginners: small beach, car park very close so watch out for take-offs and landings. A spot that can be treacherous, to be avoided if you're not sure of yourself.
Small navigation area. Boat at anchor. Oyster park. A favourite spot for windsurfers and wing, but often saturated. Kitesurfing prohibited in summer.
MEN DU (Commune de Carnac)
Good with a Southerly wind and a Westerly wind only at low tide with a high coeffcient.
Advice for beginners: choose low-tide times, so you'll bee able to stand everywhere and room on the sandy strip to attach your lines, take off and land safely. Booties are recommended but not compulsory.
Not much beach at high tide. Car park, trees and road very close. Pebbles and rocky banks along the sandy strip and at the bottom of the spot. Kitesurfing prohibited in summer.

Plage Saint Pierre (Commune de Locmariaquer)
Mainly westerly wind.
Advice for beginners: know how to ride upwind to kite safely at this spot.
No beach downwind. Very little space to take off and land. The bottom is muddy.
